Dr. Tom Roozendaal
Dr. Roozendaal is a long time resident of the Cowichan Valley. He attended Queen of Angels, Quamichan and Cowichan Senior Secondary Schools before heading off for university education. He graduated from the University of Victoria with both a Bachelor of Education in 1993 and a Bachelor of Science in 1997. After moving to Vancouver Tom graduated from UBC Dentistry in 2001 and was ranked first in his class, receiving the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia’s Gold Medal. Tom is pleased to be living in the valley where he takes advantage of its many opportunities for recreation. He feels it is an excellent place to live and raise a family.
Natalie Jones
Natalie is a Certified Dental Assistant who has been perfecting her skills since 1993. She has worked with Dr. Roozendaal since 2002 and currently is the Office Manager, Treatment Plan Coordinator and Surgical Assistant. She enjoys the patient interaction her position provides and thrives on ensuring that treatment plans are clear and understandable to the patient. Natalie has a thorough understanding of all the dental procedures that Dr. Roozendaal provides and enjoys assisting the advanced treatments offered. She has resided in the Cowichan Valley for several years and enjoys the recreation that the area offers. She has a love for the outdoors and spends most of her free time mountain biking, hiking, running and paddling. She looks forward to meeting new patients and streamlining their Treatment.
Darlene Franks
Darlene became a dental receptionist/dental assistant in 1985 and has honed her skills in a number of excellent dental practices in the valley. She is a great asset to Warmland Dental due to her professional reception skills, dental knowledge and familiarity with a wide range of dental insurance plans. Dental plans can be complex and difficult to understand. Darlene is able to explain the nuances of dental insurance to reduce any uncertainty so there is a minimum of financial ‘surprises’ to the patient. If patients ever have questions about their coverage or any other aspect of their treatment, Darlene is there to provide answers. Darlene is one of first people that you will see coming into our practice and she will greet you with a warm smile. She will be able to work with your schedule to find treatment times that are suitable. She is very involved with her children’s sports and their activities, if she is not busy doing that, she enjoys hiking, running, swimming and biking.
Lindsy McKenzie
Lindsy is an ‘Island Girl’ and has been a Certified Dental Assistant since 2005 after graduating at the top of her class. She was pleased to join the Warmland Team in 2006 and makes the journey over Hill 60 from Honeymoon Bay. Lindsy finds relaxation in painting, gardening, cycling, and working on her home. She assists Dr. Roozendaal in most of his dental procedures and works with our younger patients to ensure optimal care.
Kim Nakatsu
Kim was raised in the Cowichan Valley and is a graduate of ‘Cow High”. Initially she was a Certified Dental Assistant before studying to become a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2001. She joined the Warmland Team in 2006. One of her passions in life is figure skating which has recently taken a back seat to caring for her young son. She still attends skating events on a regular basis. Kim likes the interaction her position offers and enjoys providing information to patients about their oral health with a friendly approach. She employs a gentle touch with an eye for excellence in her treatments.
Amanda Pienariu
Amanda is the Continuing Care Coordinator and joined Warmland Dental in 2007 after completing a Dental Reception Certificate Program at Vancouver Island University. She understands that life is busy and does her best to accommodate hectic schedules and keep people on track with their appointments. In her personal time she enjoys outdoor activities, cooking, and her family. Amanda will greet you when you arrive at our office and she will be happy to help with any questions you may have when booking your appointments with us.
Danielle Walker
Danielle is a Cowichan Valley girl who has recently completed her studies in Dental Hygiene. As a new graduate from Vancouver Island University, she was excited to join the Warmland team in 2008. Danielle is enjoying getting to know all of our patients and is eager to help them work towards their individual goals and dental care needs. When not at the clinic, Danielle is most happy when she is outdoors, running, hiking, camping and spending time in the company of friends and family.
Karli Martin
Karli was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley. She graduated from Cowichan Senior Secondary School and then spent a few years in Victoria while studying at Camosun College. After graduating from the Dental Assisting program in 1996, Karli practiced locally for a few years. She then graduated from the Dental Hygiene program in 2000, receiving both academic and clinical awards. Karli joined the Warmland Dental team in 2005. Away from work, Karli loves being a mom to two young children and also enjoys reading, athletics and spending time with family and friends.
